Pros: Soothes bikini area skin post hair removal
Eliminates red bumps and even ingrown hairs

Cons: Um, it's not natural and its near my crotch.

The Bottom Line:

Removing hair in the bikini zone calls for some relief.  While I don't like using things in this area, this gel relieves my hair-removal woes.

Many people deal with razor burn on the face and legs, and while there are many products to help ease the pain and lessen the chance of getting the burning red bumps in the first place for these areas, there really doesn't seem to be much in the way of easing this pain in the bikini area.  One product that can combat this irritating, painful problem that's even worse in this area is Bikini Zone Gel.

Bikini Zone Gel claims is an ointment to use after hair-removal on the bikini area that claims to relieve skin irritation.  It comes in a small white squeeze tube with blue and green accents.

This product's main ingredient is 2% lidocaine!  Wow.  The directions say to use this product immediately after hair-removal (whether shaving, waxing, or using depilatory), applying on clean but dry skin liberally.  It says to use as often as desired, up to 4 times a day.
I've used this product on and off for several years.  The bikini area is very sensitive, both to hair removal and products, and therefore care should always be used when dealing with this area.  After shaving I make sure to completely dry the area, then as soon as possible I dab about a nickel-sized amount onto my skin, rubbing it in completely, and letting it dry before getting dressed.  I can feel an immediate cooling sensation, which feels great after shaving.  Though the directions say to use more frequently, I really only use this immediately after shaving, and don't bother to apply it any other time.

Frankly, I don't like the idea of using creams and ointments or really much of anything that close to my crotch.  One application of this ointment greatly eases any heat and pain I may have due to razor burn.  I use this ointment to relieve the pain of hair removal, but also because it greatly reduces the red bumps and ingrown hairs that come with shaving such a sensitive area, even with only one application.  The lidocaine eases the pains of hair removal, and the cooling effect of the gel is an immediate relief.

I use Bikini Zone Gel only occasionally, and not even every time I shave, however, I can definitely tell a difference when I have or haven't used it.  Whether simply trimming or shaving, this gel ensures that I won't feel any pain for the rest of the day after grooming.  The appearance of my skin is much more pleasant, and I feel better knowing I'm less likely to get ingrown hairs when using this product.
