Pros: The Kids Club, Shakes and tater tots

Cons: Want more coupons!!

Our annual purple envelope from the Burger King Kids Club Main Clubhouse arrived today. My son turns four in June and everything has his name printed on it and tells us Do Not Open Until...

Of course I did not wait and proceeded to open the contents. Matthew will understand. This being the third year for us, I still like the very first mailing and have saved what is left of it.

It all starts when you purchase a Kids Club Meal and in the plastic wrapping is the directions on how to use and assemble the toy. On the other side is the information to fill out for the child to receive this mailing prior to their birthday.

This process suggests doing at least six weeks prior to the birthday. It should be noted that you will need to update address changes and there is a code number on the address label that you will need to save.

In previous years there has been a calendar with little boxes to open with cute little phrases and there is the free kids club coupon along with stickers. The stickers were used for Christmas presents and the inside of cards because it had his name on it and some were printed labels saying thank you for the birthday present and another one thanking for coming to the party.

In today's envelope the coupon says his name on it as well. What a joy this would be for a child of around 5-8 years old and getting something with their name on it and the coupon too. I am going to make a photocopy of it before we use it!

There are stickers from the Pillsbury Dough Boy and a coupon off the birthday cookie dough. A recipe entitled Ice Cream-A-Rounds is here as well and I will try these out next month.

There is a page of sports trivia with pictures of a football, soccerball and baseball. Another page of Matthew's Cool Stickers that say Matthew's baseball, etc.

There is a maze to help the snowboarder get to the finish. There is a section Call the Shots and has pictures of fries, tenders, and football with three choices under the picture to pick the correct one.

The envelope opens up and things are tucked in little slits and you lift the flap for the jokes and this folds up nice and neat to save for future or keep in the car for those times you cannot stop at Burger King and give them the next thing. But do remember to use the coupon, which is for a Hamburger Meal only.

Now that I have told you about the club, what about the Restaurant you may ask. Well we tend to be a Drive-Thru type of family. The majority of the chains here in Los Angeles County have a computerized terminal where you can see the input of your order and verification of the total, in the case of mis-interpretation with the many languages in my town.

I tend to order from the 99 cents only selections. I do not like mustard or mayonnaise and the Rodeo Burger, (barbecue sauce and an onion on the burger), meet my needs without the wait. I order the small chocolate shake and the fries that are all for 99 cents.

If there is a toy selection we do not have, and money is available, I will ask for that as well and this is usually at the window and the server most graciously will change my order and give the shake as the drink and we get the kids meal instead of the rodeo cheeseburger.

What I like about Burger King is that I can order a milkshake at 9:30 am if I want to and it will be available. I can also get an order of tater tots and fries so we are all satisfied. The minute maid orange juice is the pint sized carton that is easy for my five year old to manage in his booster seat with the straw. They sell milk and both beverages will be included with the kids club meal and on occasion I do have to pay a little extra because it is not a soda.

With Burger King there is one window that all transactions are done at. There is no need to go to window number one for payment and number two for order. One person is able to function both tasks simultaneously. The people on the inside are doing the preparing of the shake and I have observed many times and it is worth watching them squirt that chocolate syrup in the paper cup and then put it in the machine as opposed to other chains doing it not within my sight.

The Burger King we frequent is inside a mini mall with a laundromat and other stores and there is an opposite entrance and exit to make for a smooth transition and the traffic flows with no line congestion.

There is a small playcenter inside the Burger King we frequent and they have tables outside for the true Los Angeles experience including the smog and traffic.

Thanks to Burger King for the Kids Club and honoring my children on their birthday. I will try my best to not use the coupon until his birthday, but rest assured we will be driving thru this week.
