I loved going to Captain's D's until......

Pros: Service is good, prices reasonable

Cons: Need to update ads to what they are actually serving!

My husband and I frequent our local Captain's D's Restaurant. We usually ordered the two piece fish dinner that includes fries and slaw. Then Captain's D's Restaurant started offering broiled lobster on a skewer over a bed of rice! It was so tempting and delicious. It also came with soft bread and a nice salad. Then it happened! I was hooked on lobster and ordered it every time we went there. But as you probably have guessed by now, they changed the menu. At first they said they were temporarily out of lobster and would be getting more in.

So tonight my husband took me to Captain's D's Restaurant for what we thought would be a satisfying meal. When we entered the restaurant, there was a very large picture that advertised fried lobster combo, which also included shrimp scampi and fried shrimp with a baked potato and a salad including the soft bread. I particularly noticed that the picture had a broiled lobster in the lower left hand corner of the advertisement for nominal fee of $4.00 So I went ahead and ordered that, thinking that my husband would help me with the other food and I could enjoy the lobster. It really is hard to find lobster in Beckley, West Virginia.

When I received my order, I was so disappointed. The lobster had been "fried" and was breaded. I asked the girl why the advertisement showed me lobster tail that was broiled? Her only comment to me was that they do not make that any more. I again showed her the picture and asked her why it was still up there? She never could really answer my question to my satisfaction. So I will be writing to the home company to inform them to update their advertisements to show what you actually get when you order this!

The waitress was very nice. she offered to get me something else. I did order the two-piece fish dinner, like my husband was eating. I gave her the money, but when she came back, she said it was free since I was disappointed in the lobster dinner. But then she asked me what I thought was the silliest question,"Do you want a bag to put your meal in?' That had me wondering if she thought that I would eat it when I got it home! Ha. Of course, I declined the doggy bag and thanked her for her service. I will go back to Captain's D's Restaurant, but not for a while. The area was clean, the staff polite and courteous, but the disappointment over the lobster left a sour taste in my mouth!
