1 review about CoverGirl LashBlastFusion Mascara Black...

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion is good for day but isn't dramatic enough for night.

Pros: Doesn't clump or flake, lengthens, adds some volume, separates lashes, durable, darkens

Cons: I don't get the dramatic length I crave from it unless I apply many coats.

The Bottom Line: CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara is a good all around mascara. I like more drama and length but this is a solid mascara that adds length, volume, and definition to lashes.

I tried this mascara before and liked it but when BzzAgent.com offered me a free tube, I accepted and tried it again, this time for more than an application or two. I like it but don't really see much difference between CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara and the original LashBlast in the orange tube.

About the Product

* Perfect fusion of LashBlast's super-volumizing brush and a new buildable, fiber-stretch lengthening formula that work together to thicken and extend individual lashes
* Our first ever volume and length mascara together in one step
* Our biggest brush fused with our most lengthening formula ever

Manufacturer's Info

This mascara is in a blister pack and carded. The tube is purple, which I love, and comes with a little cap and the brush separate to show its pretty purple brush. You just have to unscrew the cap and toss it and replace it with the brush. The tube is fat and round with a oval top. The brush is thick and long with tightly packed mostly short bristles which seem to be rubber. They don't feel like the usual mascara "hair" bristles. The brush tapers at the end to get at the tiny lashes in the corners.

My Experience

I bought Very Black but later, was sent Black by BzzAgent. I don't see much difference in the two shades. They are both very dark and deep black. The formula is supposed to have little fibers in it that stretch the lashes and make them look extra long. This formula is also supposed to add volume.

When I tried CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara  the first time, I actually was more impressed with it than I am now. It could be because I am hooked on Revlon Double Twist Mascara which gives me the longest lashes ever so I am comparing the two in my mind.

Application is easy although the brush, to a novice LashBlast user, may seem unwieldy at first. It is big but I have no problems applying the mascara to both my upper and lower lashes. It doesn't smear or get on my skin at all. The brush does allow me to get to tiny lashes and darken and enhance them which I like.

After one coat, my lashes are darker, longer, and a bit thicker. I don't see a ton of volumnizing with this mascara but do see some. As for length, it takes a couple of coats for me to get the length I am satisfies with. I prefer dramatic long lashes and this mascara CAN give that to me if I apply enough coats.

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara doesn't clump or flake at all. I can wear it all day and night without any fading or residue ending up under my eyes. It does have great lasting power. It is not waterproof but it has never run in high heat and sweaty conditions. I wouldn't trust the product to stay on in rain or while swimming, of course, but it isn't one of those mascara that run when your eyes water a bit.

I have worn this mascara with and without contacts in with no issues. My eyes are allergy sensitive right now and some mascaras make them water. This one doesn't. It seems to be gentle and, because it doesn't flake, my contacts never have to deal with little floaters getting on them.

My lashes do look separated and natural when I wear this mascara. Natural is the word I would use when describing the type of look my lashes take on. Not dramatic or lush but natural. This mascara is a good casual one or daytime one for me but I need more when I want to really lengthen and add drama to my eyes.

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara washes off easily with my usual facial cleanser. It doesn't leave residue behind and I don't need an oil based remover.

There are a lot of good things about this mascara but, if you already have the original CoverGirl Lashblast, I doubt you will see much difference if you buy this version. I actually think the original adds a bit more length than this one. They're very similar, in my opinion.

Buying Info

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara is available at drugstores and mass-market stores on and offline. It is about $9.00 a tube unless on sale. CoverGirl is inching up there in price! You can usually find it on sale or get a coupon for money off though.

I'm on the fence about how to rate this product. It has many things I seek in a mascara. It darkens lashes, doesn't clump or flake, washes off easily but doesn't run easily, adds length and some volume, and is overall good stuff. However, it isn't a favorite of mine for nighttime wear because I like long, dramatic lashes and I don't get that with this mascara. I get some length and some volume and I like to use this one for day when I want to look natural and fresh. It's a 3.5 star mascara for me but, because it has a lot of things going for it, I will go to 4 stars. However, if you already have the original CoverGirl LashBlash Mascara in the orange tube, I suggest waiting until you are out of that before trying this one. The two are remarkably similar.
