Fine surge protector and outlet, but still waiting for an emergency

At the moment, this box is serving as an excellent multi-outlet power source and surge protector for my laptop, external monitor and a desk lamp, and soon I'll be adding a set of speakers. We haven't had any power failures since I received this, so I can't comment on other reviewers' notes that the battery life is too short to really allow effective shutdown.
