Dr. Brown's Breast Pad Carrier Keeps My Pads Safe and Organized
Apr 8, 2008
Pros: Convenient; Keeps pads intact; Discreet
Cons: Kind of big for most purses
The Bottom Line: An excellent product for nursing moms to keep their breast pads intact.
If you have read my recent reviews, you probably have noticed that I am currently nursing twins. People think I'm crazy, but this is something that I really want to do. I have had issues with my milk supply, so I started drinking Mother's Milk Tea. Well, that did the trick, and now my supply seems to have really come in.
The downside of my increased milk supply is that I need more nursing pads throughout the day. If I have a little leakage and need to change pads while I am out, I have to fumble through my pocketbook, looking for a new pad. Unfortunately, most breast pads aren't discreetly wrapped, the way that sanitary napkins are. Most are two round discs, wrapped in clear plastic. It isn't exactly a secret as to who may be nursing and having leakage issues.
Another problem with just tossing the pads into my purse is that they get wrinkled, folded and bent out of shape. This makes the pads easily seen through my clothing. not cool.
The Dr. Brown's Breast Pad Carrier is a convenient, dual-sided carrier for virtually any size of nursing or breast pad. the round carrier features two zippered pockets on each side. It looks like an over-sized hockey puck, but is very soft and durable. There is heavy piping around the edge of the carrier so that it doesn't lose its shape, thus not ruining the shape of the pads inside. Without pushing it down, it measures approximately two inches thick, but can be squished down to about an inch thick. The diameter of the case is approximately four inches. It isn't convenient for women that carry small purses, but it can most definitely fit into any diaper bag.
The inside of each pocket is lined with vinyl, designed to keep wetness of used pads in until you are able to wash the pads. The package says that one pocket is standard and the other is waterproof, but I can't tell the difference between the two. It seems to me that both packages are constructed the same way. The outside of the bag is a woven nylon material, which only comes in navy blue. The carrier isn't designed to be machine washed. Instead, all you have to do is wipe it clean with a warm, damp cloth and some mild detergent.
For just under $8, the Dr. Brown's Breast Pad Carrier is most definitely worth the price. Your pads will keep their shape, and your used pads will not get anything else wet. Plus, it keeps your nursing issues a secret.
