"Private pilot and Medal of Honor recipient Hub Walker's daughter was killed by a man who, on his deathbed, names Hub's friend as the real perpetrator. Hub hires Cordell Logan, a fellow pilot and former military assassin, to clear his friend's name. Logan lives to fly, using his ancient Cessna to operate a flying school. Unfortunately, he has just one student, few possessions, and little income. He soon finds himself dealing with homicides and the sabotage of his beloved airplane. His beautiful ex-wife is seeking reconciliation, his 88-year-old landlady and his cat both go missing, and several people are trying to kill him.VERDICT: Freed's skills as a reporter, screenwriter, and pilot made his first Logan tale(Flat Spin)a delight, and this one continues that roller-coaster pleasure. Logan is a stubborn, wise-cracking, ordinary guy with some extraordinary skills and a passion for flying. He does have a few problems following the Buddha's precepts on nonviolence, but readers will eagerly look forward to his further attempts to combine flying and detection." --Library Journal

"Cordell Logan, the Southern California flight instructor and former black-ops specialist, returns in his second adventure. As inFlat Spin(2012), Freed combines an intriguing mystery with some engaging banter from the Spenser-like hero and several exciting flying scenes. The trick, as the series continues, will be to find believable ways to keep incorporating flying into the action. When Logan is in the air, Freed's series really takes off." --Booklist

"Fangs Outis the second book in the widely acclaimed Cordell Logan series, and like its predecessor is filled with bullet-speed wit, original characters (and a cat to die for), plus a fast-paced and intelligent plot, climaxing with more than one surprise, especially the surprise on the very last sentence of the book concerning Savannah. David Freed is a master of mordant one-liners for which Raymond Chandler's leading man, Philip Marlowe, would have given his eye teeth. Highly recommended for crime and thrillers fans alike." --NY Journal of Books

Fangs out and ready for a dogfight, Cordell Logan switches from flight instructor and occasional quiet investigator to bulldog, wildcat, or eagle, determined to catch his prey. David Freed’s second Cordell Logan mystery brings back all the favorite characters so naturally even forgetful readers like me won't need to pause to remember their names. Savannah the ex-wife, Kiddiot the amazing cat, and the wonderful Mrs. Schmulowitz spread their influence over the story, even when off-stage, …
