This awesome piece of technology is probably one of the coolest thing to hit the video market in a long time.  The Flip Mino HD Series camcorder gives owners the power of filmmaking in this less than 4 inch tall device.  For the new series of Flip camcorders, even the width of the device has gone down to less than two inches, making it very compact and handy.  While the Flip Mino might be small, it packs quite a punch.  With 8GB's of internal memory and up to 120 minutes of HD video, the Flip Mino HD is all you need to start making awesome movies!

What's great about the flip is that you can literally take it with you anywhere.  Sure, you can lug a full size camcorder with you, but think about those bulky carrying cases you have to bring along?  The Flip Mino HD fits right into your pocket.  Let's say you're at your cousin Betty's and had a video you wanted to show her.  You can plug the the Mino right into her computer just by flipping up the USB attachment and upload your video right then and there!  Does you cousin Betty not have a computer?  Well if she has a an HDTV with HDMI input  then you can plug your flip right into the TV and show her the video on the big screen!  I got the Flip Mino over Christmas and I had a lot of fun filming my family over the holidays which made for some pretty fun times.

Another great feature with this version of the Flip is its built in lithium ion rechargeable battery.  Previous models took batteries which in the long run can end up costing a lot of money.  With the new Flip, all you have to do is plug the thing into your USB port and it charges.  Even better is the fact that you don't have to worry for the thing to die on you before you've even taken two hours of video.  The battery life on the Flip Mino HD lasts for those two hours and even longer if you want to upload your videos and go right back out and film some more.  One thing to be aware of though, don't overcharge your battery because this will end up actually draining some of your batteries lifetime.

The only real negative about the Flip Mino HD is shooting outdoors during the night.  It doesn't pick up video that well in unlit areas.  Hopefully with future models, the Flip will add a light of some sort.  Having said that, if you are in a well lit area like a city or a rural part of town, then the Flip Mino is actually great.  Another thing to be aware of is the Flip Mino HD's price.  Though the technology is awesome and the camera itself is really compact, the price for the two hour model runs at $229 dollars so make sure that if you're not receiving one as a gift, you do all your research before you buy one. Since I own one, I will say that the gadget is definitely worth the price and you'll have fun with it anywhere you go.

My fiance and I actually plan on using this at our wedding instead of dishing out tons of cash for a videographer.  It puts us in control of our very special day and hopefully the friends we let  take video will film something better than a video guy would.  All in all, this is just an awesome gadget and you can do a whole lot more with it than just making home movies. With software that allows to upload right to YouTube and Facebook, it's the total package!  If you can dish out the $229 dollars for it, than it is well worth price.   For more information on the Flip Mino HD, go to www.theflip.com or check out the Wiki to the right.  5/5!

As someone who has recorded a few weddings, I will say that I *hope* the videographer would get better video (and sound) than some relatives with a Flip! :) I can also see the benefit of having this style of footage too.

There is a girl on my co-ed soccer team that is putting together a video about our season and she's using a Flip to do it and it IS really fun and easy to use.  I opted for a Canon SD780IS still camera with HD Video capabilities, and it was great...until I washed it in the laundry.

Nice review!!  Keep on Flippin!

The Flip is a really good choice if you are on a budget, like us, but under normal circumstances, you're absolutely right, a videographer is good :)

Ooooh, I just posted my first ever video review this morning.  If I'm on a roll with that, then I might just pick up one of these because it sounds neat!  Cute video, by the way :)
