I've never owned any computer-laptop or desktop-that wasn't a Dell, so I was very excited to try a new brand. I may just switch who I buy the rest of my computers from because I love this new laptop so much! It is nearly perfect in every way (with a few exceptions), and before I say anything else, I just want to say that I highly recommend this laptop to all!
PROS ~ There are many, many pros about this laptop:
Durability - Although I haven't tried dropping it on concrete just yet, it does seem to be a very durable laptop. It survived without a scratch being jolted around in my backpack, and it doesn't look like it's about to break anytime soon.
Portability - This is probably one of the features that is mentioned the most: the laptop is very lightweight and easy to carry around with you wherever you go. I have a portable DVD player that's heavier than this!
Battery - It's supposed to last about 9 hours, but I only was able to get about 6 hours out of it, which I found to be perfectly sufficient. It charges quickly and efficiently, and in an hour or two it can go from being fully depleted to full of battery life. Also, just some bonus info, the battery is very light and looks like just part of the laptop when connected; it's not an awkward battery at all.
Keyboard/Screen - I loved the keyboard on this laptop! The keys are crisp and easy to tap; although they have been a little bit rearranged from what I'm used to an example being that "backspace" is a bit farther away than I'm used to reaching for. The screen is also really great, even though it can get quite a glare in the sun. I use the brightest screen setting, by the way, and there are about 4-5 other brightness settings.
Internet - I was able too hook up to my wireless internet immediately upon starting up my laptop, and it has continued to be extremely fast-faster, in fact, than my desktop!
Gaming - Like everyone seems to have said, this isn't a hardcore gaming laptop, but I have played several large file downloadable games that have played without a hitch. So, rest assured, that if you enjoy playing games that aren't too extreme then you should be able to run them on here.
Lack of heat - What I mean by "lack of heat" is that while the bottom of the laptop warms up, it doesn't burn your legs like some laptops do. I don't put it often on top of my legs (I usually use a desk or pillow), but when I do place the laptop on my legs, it becomes warm but doesn't burn them at all.
CONS ~ Although there were various pros, there are still some slight cons:
Touchpad - I agree with the other reviewers: the touchpad is horrible. I was trying to type another review up on it, but while I was typing, I kept accidentally hitting the touchpad which kept messing me up. Also, it seems when I want to use it, it chooses not to work, or to go berserk. I'll probably be investing in a new mouse for the laptop.
Lack of CD/DVD drive - Yep, there is no drive for CDs or DVDs, which disappointed me a bit. It's not too big of a deal for me, as I will be downloading anything that I normally would have played/watched/listened to, but it was still something that I will miss.
Bloatware - Once again, like many of the previous reviewers said, there is a vast amount of bloatware installed. I've uninstalled some of it but not all of it, because I'm afraid to delete something that's important. I really wish the manufacturers would have just left the bloatware off.
OVERALL ~ I really love my new laptop, and although it does have a few issues, I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new laptop. Unless you're wanting hardcore gaming, this laptop should meet most of you needs, and I really can't say enough good things about it.
