Pros: Lightweight, very small, will fit anywhere

Cons: Little bit on expensive side, and no case, and short warranty

The Bottom Line: Highly for the person always on the go.

My and I purchased this printer about one year ago. It cost $265.00, this included tax. We bought it from Curcuit City. Since that time they have closed up. So I have to depend on the manufacturer if anything goes wrong with it. I usually like to use it with my lap top. It is very small and lightweight. It is very nice for going on trips and printing things just in case of emergencies. In which I did have one last year and I needed to print some photographs off of my lap top. My daughter lost out dog and we had to send pictures home while we were on vacation in Florida. This printer did the job perfectly. We were able to print these photos and fax them from the front desk and get them to my daughter so that she could put fliers out and find our dog. If we did not have this type of printer we might not have taken our lap top with us. This printer is small enough to fit into a medium size suitcase. The height is a little over three inches, and the width is a little over 13 inches, and the depth is 6.5 inches. So as you can imagine it is very compact. The weight is only a little over 4 pounds.

I had told my wife when we got the lap top that we should get a printer for it. We just did not know that we were going to spend as much money as we did. Two hundred fifty five dollars is more than we had spent on the printer for our desk top computer. This printer is a bit quicker and has the same if not better quality than our desk top printer. It is as fast or faster then the other one. This printer can do approximately 8 to 9 sheets per minute. I have never timed it but it does a very good job. I love the quality of color that this puts out. The maximum resolution for black an white is 1200 X 1200 dpi, and for the color it is 4800 X 1200 dpi. This seems to be very adequate for a portable printer.

The ink cartridges are very cheap if you know who to get them from. I go to All Star ink jet .com and purchase all of mine. I have been using them for years. They are half of the price that you will pay in the store. Also they will give you a check for the empty cartridges that you send back to them.

The package that you will come with everything that you need. It comes with a 450 series printer. A power adapter, a power cord, a black and color cartridge, a parallel cable, and all the printed documentation plus a set up poster to get you started. Plus a customer support guide. Don’t forget to look for the starter CD just in case you might need it for your lap top. If your lap top will not recognize it. You will need this to get started.

I have Windows XP and it is working just fine. If you like the led light affect you will like this. It has a led light for just about everything. Such as the battery charge led, and left print cartridge led, and a cancel button, and resume led, also a power button, and a power led. You can purchase a battery for this but I have yet to do this. So I can not tell you how well it works under battery power.

When replacing the cartridges they make it pretty simple. Just lift access cover and the tray will slide to the center automatically. Then just pop them out by pushing downward on the front and pulling them out. They should go in just as easy. Be careful not to use refillable ones because they will eventually burn up the head on your printer. To load the printer with paper you just put up to 45 sheets in the top loader tray. Make sure that you pull the input extension tray out before you insert the paper. Also slide the paper guide against the edge of the paper, this will ensure that the paper gets pulled in as straight as possible. This is when you need to install the proper software into your lap top. But make sure that you do not not connect the printer until it is done down loading the software. Just like a regular printer you will need to calibrate and align your printer before you start using it. I have since found out that they sell a carrying case for this particular printer. Or you can do as I am doing and that is I have found a medium size suitcase and put all of my printing needs into this case. It just makes it a little easier to keep track of everything. A couple of tips that you should probably already know and that is to shut it down properly so that the print cartridge will go back to the proper position.

This comes with a led reference manual, this is very handy if you get a led light to light up and you cannot figure out what it is. This manual will list a bunch of different types of problems then tell you cause and recommended action. The warranty on this model is not the very best, you will have a one year from the date of purchase. I am getting close to that mark but I don’t think that I have anything to worry about. This is about the best printer that I have used. The sleek design and the color is grey and black. This goes well with anything.
