Show Your Child the Games That You Had When You Were Younger.

Pros: This game will keep your children occupied for hours.

Cons: Cheap plastic parts and plastic beads.

The Bottom Line: I can highly recommend this for a rainy day bought this toy lacks a lot of quality.

What happens on a rainy day when your children are stuck inside of the house? Well, let me tell you, the first thing they do is run to you and tell you that, “Mom or Dad” I'm bored. That is when you go into the closet and dig out all of their board games that they have not played in a while. When this happens, they usually grab the game called Hungry Hungry Hippos by Hasbro. This is a very well-known name and has been around since the 50s and 60s. You can usually find this at any toy store, particularly Toys "R" Us. For right around $15, your children can have an afternoon of fun without pestering you for something to do.

Description
The approximate size of this game is 4" x 11" x 11" and only weighs approximately 2 pounds. This game will come with four different brightly colored plastic hippos, and 20 white marbles. There will be some assembly required because the hippo heads are not connected when you first open the box. There are also four different colored levers and a label sheet that will have stickers to apply to the different levers and other certain parts of the game.

Features
The most important feature of this game is the fact that it is self-explanatory; there is basically no reading required for the children. You can either have two or four players to play this game. Each recommendation for this game is from four to seven years old, but I have seen children older than that playing this game such as the case is with my daughter.

Durability
This game is made up of totally plastic parts and can be broken if the children become too rambunctious, and the hippo heads will come dislodged from their place. If something was to get spilled on this or the game was to get a little dirty from, as we all know children always wash their hands, and they are very clean, it is very easy to just wipe this down with a damp cloth.

Experience
If your children are of the same age then this game will be very good for them. But, once you start getting the children that are older and their eye and hand coordination is a lot faster, this game will be less fun for the younger children. The older children's reflexes should be faster and more coordinated, and that is not fair for the younger children. The basic idea of this game is for your individual hippo to eat as many marbles as fast as they can, and the one who has the most at the end of the game is the winner. Your child will learn sportsmanship, and eye hand coordination, plus how to count. When I first seen this game when I was a little kid, this came with a bunch of white marbles and the hippo heads would stay attached, but you would not be able to put them back inside of the box that they came. Now, the hippo heads are very easily removed for more storage space and the marbles have been replaced by plastic beads and as we all know, what happens with all those plastic beads, they either get stuck in the wrong orifice on your child, or get lost. I also have noticed that the older version of this game works a lot smoother than this newer version.

Conclusion
If you are willing to put up with the noise that this game makes plus the noise that the children make while playing this game, then for sure go ahead and spend the money on this game but do not expect too much on the quality of this product. This seems to be made up of a thinner plastic than what we were used to when we were younger. But, that is just my opinion, and you know how that goes. Everybody has an opinion and you know what everybody thinks about that. This is an excellent game for a rainy day to keep your children busy and out of your hair. They will enjoy it just as my daughter does, she would sit there for hours with her friend, and as long as you shut the door to the room that they are in. Then you will probably be able to withstand all of the noise that they are making while playing this game.
