Good if you already know some French.

I took three years of French in high school which was, alas, quite a bit farther back in time than I care to remember. I liked the language and enjoyed learning it, though I was never all that great with speaking it or understanding it when it was spoken to me. To this day, however, I can at least muddle my way through an article in Le Monde and at least get the gist of what's happening.

I'm probably therefore one of the ideal candidates for this set. Other people, who are just learning, not so much. The software seems to assume you have a basic knowledge of how the language works and takes you from there. If you already know your verbs, you'll probably be fine, and you'll pick up some new words. Otherwise you'll probably just be lost, and while you might find out you can say "Le sange conduit l'autobus," you probably won't be able to do that much else.

If you're planning a trip to a French-speaking part of the world, and have no grounding in French, pass this by. If you have at least some basic understanding of the language, this is probably an ok buy for you, but you can probably do better with other products.

My history with French is very similar to yours. I actually have some French relatives in town this week, which has kind of inspired me to want to brush up my French again. This software does not sound like the thing to check out though. Thanks for sharing!
