If It Can Tame My Hair, It Can Tame Wild Boars...

To say I have curly hair is an understatement. I have out of control, bush woman hair. And not the pretty, soft and bouncy curl that starlets like Taylor Swift or SJP sport. The celebrity hairstyle mine resembles most is, er, Carrot Top. Remember him? I do. Every morning.
So needless to say, I've tried absolutely everything to tame my frizzy hair--including straigtening treatments and a long, torrid affair with my straigtening iron.
Now before you say, but curly hair is beautiful, it is who you are, you always want what you can't have--let me tell you that I'd love my curly hair, if it can be soft, bouncy and pretty--not if I am mistaken for a brillo pad.
But like a bad child, my hair simply will not behave.
Enter Je Veux...
I believe this is a new product, and from what I can tell it is relatively unknown.
The only reason I stumbled across it is because a friend of mine works for a company that distributes high end hair products to salons, and one of her perks is free tester product. She's not much of a hair buff so I reap the benefits of all her tester products. The Je Veux line was one of them.

Ok, long story not so short...I am in love. I used the Mud Treat Shampoo for Curly & Problematic Hair and its corresponding Mud Treat Conditioner for All Hair Types. Then I used Nourishing Mask: [here is the description from the Je Veux website is an intensive treatment for dull, tired, color-treated or damaged hair. It provides immediate nourishment and with its rejuvenating natural complex, it maintains and protects from damage and color fading.] I finished it all off with the Argan oil from Morocco which is Je Veux's bread & butter. The Argan Oil finishing product includes Argan Oil, Dead Sea Minerals, Neem Oil, Chamomile, Evening Primrose Oil, Jojoba Oil, Rose Hip Oil, Calendula Oil, Sage, and Oblipicha Oil. For a product with so many oils in it, if used in the proper amount is not oily at all.

I put the product combination to the ultimate test; I went to bed with a wet head--remember the Carrot Top reference? This is how I invoke him.

The next morning I took my trusty flat iron to my hair, and without the usual fight that plagues my morning routine I had straight, not-greasy, frizz-free hair.
I am officially a lifer.
Ok, so here are my disclaimers/cons:
1. I believe that these product may only be available to salons or licensed hair stylists (I'm not 100% about that though.)
2. I'm also not sure how affordable they are, if indeed they are available to the average Jane. I scored these for free but I get the feeling that when I run out and need more, it might cost me a pretty (frizz-free) penny.
3. The distributor website seems only to cater to New York, New Jersey, Florida, Puerto Rico & the Virgin Islands. So middle America may be destined to out of control hair, at least for now.

That being said, I've alredy promised my friend my first born child for another fix of Je Veux...which ironically means "I want."
And I do...

This stuff sounds amazing, and due to the price tag it probably is. Do you find you use a lot of the product or its it a little goes a long way sort of thing?

Hey-I made the mistake of using waaaay too much the first time and it was a little greasy so now I try the whole less is more--I've had it for 2 months. I've since done some more research and it seems that you have to order it, it's not available in stores. It is definitely expensive but I'd say if frizzy hair is your nemesis and you might be able to afford it, it's worth it. Good Luck!

Haha, you're funny, lady!  Can I be friends with your friend? ;P  I don't have curly hair, but it's definitely dry and frizzy.  I've been using CHI products (I included two of them in my Guide to Fabulosity) and it's been working out alright, but this Je Veux stuff sounds amazing and I'm going to try to get my hands on some.  Thanks for sharing! :)

Hey--yeah, let me know if you can get your hands on it. I'm curious. I'll let you know how easy or difficult it is for me to get a second batch. I'm pretty much addicted now though so God help the person who gets in my way...

Hahahaha. I did a little Googling and it's not available in too many places. I was only able to find the Argan oil, too, and it was $50 for a 4.23 oz bottle. Ouch! I hope they sell smaller sizes eventually so that I can sample it...

Holy cow?! $50. That is insane. Might be the return of Carrot Top. Shoot.
