As hard as it is to believe sometime some of the best lessons can come from the darkest moments in our lives. That is what Mark Harris of J'son M. Lee's novel JUST TRYIN' TO BE LOVED realizes, and through the book we are able to take the personal journey along with him.

Mark is an individual who has the success that many would love to enjoy, however, he still feels as though something might be missing. Though he has gotten out of a relationship that wasn't the best for him, love is something that he still wants in his life. What is interesting to me as the story unfolds is that maybe it's not love from another person he wants, but the love of himself and he brings to the world that he hasn't quite embraced.

Lee has used his abilities as a storyteller to address issues of relationships, accepting who you are and being comfortable in your own skin as well as where faith plays a role in your life and the decisions you make. This is a book that is at times funny, poignant as well as will make you think. It has all of the characteristics you would expect of a book that was designed to grab the reader and not let them go, and that is something it does with each page.

Presented in such a way that people of all walks of life will be able to see slivers of themselves, J'Son M. Lee shows that we are all just trying to be loved. It's all about the path you go searching for it.
