The mascara that keeps on giving, and giving...

I've waited a good two weeks before reviewing this mascara. I would hate to proclaim my love for this mascara prematurely, only to have it backfire a week later when it is running down my face, or has given me an eye infection. Sadly, this has happened before with cosmetics, but this time, I am happy to announce that I think that the L'oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara is the real deal Holyfield.

I have to admit that I am always skeptical when it comes to mascaras. You can't trust those ridiculous commercials with women who seems to have the most luxuriously long lashes, when in actuality the makeup artist on the commercial set has hooked them up with at least 3 layers of false lashes on each eye. I mean, c'mon, does anyone really believe that a mascara can actually multiply lashes with one use? (The video below is the German commercial featuring Penelope Cruz and I think we can all agree that no mascara is capable of lengthening your lashes to this extent.)

The reality is that mascara is only depositing color on lashes that range anywhere from blonde to darkish brown. Depending on how dramatic you like your result to be, you can use more product or you can find a mascara in a specific color (charcoal, light black, brown, black, extra black, etc.).

The L'oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara, has one of the most exaggerated names to be sure, but I can say now that it delivers on its name and then some. They debuted a new wand which they call the 'Flexi-Globe Brush' a cute little round spherical brush that looks like a cannonball with bristles. This brush is something that I have never seen done before by any cosmetic company, and in my opinion, is long overdue. This tiny little ball of a brush enables you to coat each and every lash - top and bottom - with precision and does not overcoat with product because the bristles are short.

I would consider this to be a volulmizing mascara, although you can get some good length too because the Flexi-Globe Brush lets you get right there into the base of your lashes for some good extension. I like the amount of product that is deposited and it wears really well throughout the day without any smudging, at least in my experience (*as a disclaimer my skin leans on the dry side, definitely not oily*).

As stated in the beginning of the review, I have used this product for about two weeks now and have really been happy with the results. Here is the big sell....you ready for it?...How 'bout now? The first day I wore the mascara my boyfriend asked if I did something different with my makeup. How's that for results?

UPDATE: I recently tried the Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara, a mascara with a very similar wand to the telescopic mascara by L'Oreal and and one that is supposed to create the same panoramic effect for your lashes. I have to say that despite Givenchy's $29 price tag, I will suggest that your money is better spent on the $8 version from L'Oreal from the drugstore. Yes, the Givenchy's formula is a bit slicker, which probably means it's a bit less drying than L'Oreal but in terms of lengthening and great wear, Telescopic Exposion by L'Oreal still gets my vote.

Awesome review, Aunny!  I've never seen this before, and I don't realize that mascara was available in so many shades.  I'm really curious as to how that little bristly ball works, so I'm going to have to pick this up.  This review fits nicely into the Mascara Community! :)

I guess I should probably know this, but how do I move it into the Mascara Community? Help me Devora! ;)

Haha, I dunno, Aunny.  I think you have to tag this data point "mascara" ;)

I was wondering about this and how that cute little cannonball would work and the fact that your boyfriend noticed...that's quite a result! Sometimes I like to experiment with mascaras, different types and colors, so I'll definitely have to put this one on the list. Thanks, love!

Thanks for the props girlie! I picked mine up at Target for around $7, they usually have coupons in the mailers for new cosmetic products so I would keep an eye out for those as well! Hope you're well!
