Pros: hydrates permed hair beautifully, restores curl, balances dry hair, available in liter bottle

Cons: does not do well on normal hair after your perm is gone

The Bottom Line: If you have hair that is permed, dry, colored, and misbehaving, the perfect discipline is to show it some love with BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO.

Ever have hair that just will not behave? How about that $100 perm that you scrimped to have done, only to find that it looks unruly and just does not do what you want it to do?

No need to lose it and punish your hair. No need for spanking here. The answer for you just might be BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO by Matrix.

Back when perms were a part of my life that I thought would never leave, my hair seemed to be getting more and more unruly. It did not look curly and glossy like I imagined my investment would bring.

Instead, I ended up with a head of frizzy, unimpressive mop like hair.

Before my last perm which left me with bald patches that would not grow out, my hair dresser recommended trying this shampoo. I went all out and purchased a liter bottle of BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO. We have a discount place near us that sells salon products (they are also a salon) at deep discount products.

I paid $12.99 for my last bottle that I purchased.

BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO is a golden thick shampoo that has a fragrance that is very nice. It is reminiscent of musk with a slight herbal-floral twist added. It is easily unisex and not "just for women".

When you use this shampoo, you only need a very little. It is concentrated and has a nice lather to it. It cleans very well and leaves your hair with a nice squeaky clean, but not stripped.

If your hair is curly or wavy, it will restore a bounce to that curl. BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO usually only needs one sudsing and will also leave a slight shine to your hair.

I found that it leaves dry or permed hair clean for about 2 or 3 days if a lot of products are not used on the hair weighing it down or attracting dirt.

As I said, I have been purchasing my liter bottles for $12.99 at a local discount salon, but it has been a year since my last purchase, so the price may have gone up.

For me the disadvantage to this shampoo is that once I stopped getting perms, I could not use this shampoo with great results. ALthough my hair was clean, it did not stay that way for a whole day. It left a residue that weighed my hair down.

However, another person in our family who had been experimenting with hair color could use this with good results. Hair color left the hair drier than normal, so this was a good shampoo.

So, I have kept it in the house.

The ingredients of this shampoo have changed a few times since I first started purchasing it about 8 years ago or so.

Here are the ingredients from my most recent bottle. There is a possibility that they have changed again since this bottle was made, however, so be prepared to read the bottle.

extracts of quillaia, chamomile, rosemary, ammonium laureth sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, cocamide DEA, Chitosan PCA, guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, oleyl/palmityl/palmitoleyl/keratin hydroxylpropyl dimonium chloride/lactate, sodium PCA, PEG-45M, cocodimonium hydrolyzed keratin protein, steardimonium hydroxyethyl, celluose, benzophenone-4, cetyl betaine, tetrasodium EDTA, cocamidopropyl betaine, polysorbate 20, citric acid, ammonium chloride, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance

The quality of this product is only guaranteed when purchased from a professional salon.

This shampoo is excellent for dry, damaged, permed or colored hair. You may want to use a different conditioner or the companion one. I never used a conditioner with this shampoo when I used it as the shampoo alone was enough to condition my hair.

However, you may find you have different needs.
