Great for Exact Measurements; Sleek Design

The MIRA Glass Platform Digital Kitchen Scale with Large Display combines a sleek, thin design with great functionality. The grey tone glass platform will fit into any kitchen decor--but 'modern' is the word here--I can see this scale sitting atop a wondrously outfitted stainless steel or all white kitchen as an accent. However don't let my imaginings limit your purchase. This scale is all about function.

As a crafter, I use this scale for measurements. Its seven inch squared size makes it easy to balance large bowls and other items that my plastic scale with only a 4 inch diameter could only do with my constant nudging the bottom of the bowl to keep it steady. The glass design of the MIRA is obviously a better quality making for easy clean-up. With continual use of my plastic scale, depressing the zero out button resulted in creating an eventual hole--this after about a year of frequent use. No chance of this happening with the MIRA. The design is constructed for endurance. The digital readout on my plastic scale does not report weights with an "5", "8" or "9" digit in the amount, simply because the poor quality digital display does not print some of the "legs" of these digits. Monitoring closely was my only recourse, until using the MIRA. The display on the MIRA is strongly contrasted for an easier readout.

The crafts I create require measurements calibrated in "ounces." This is no problem for the MIRA. The easy-on-the-eyes larger readout provides "ounce" measurements to the nearest tenth which is perfectly adequate for my needs and I would think, any kitchen application, especially baking. In addition, the scale can give solid measurements in grams and liquid measurements in milliliters. As the MIRA scale is not for weighing items that exceed 11 pounds, its use is fairly limitless for the usual kitchen or crafting application.

In addition for those concentrating on fulfilling their New Year's Resolution and becoming more conscientious about losing some weight, this little scale would be the perfect item to use to ensure that you are really only eating 3 to 4 ounces of protein with each meal that includes carbohydrates. It might be a little difficult to make it mobile and take to a restaurant:) but for home use, it is perfect for this application, also.

Storage is easy. I keep my MIRA Kitchen Scale in its box and just slide it like a book into a small slot in my pantry. My kitchen and counter are rather small, limiting my space for display type items. Nevertheless, the MIRA Kitchen scale will definitely add a modern flavor to any functional space.

Bottom line? For the price, the MIRA Glass Platform Digital Kitchen Scale with Large Display provides a great balance of functionality, performance and design. A lesser priced plastic digital scale might perform right out of the box, but eventually, as I discovered, it easily becomes damaged, less functional and tough to clean. The MIRA, however, is built to last as perhaps a one-time purchase. Recommended.
