The best in the pearl industy. Makimoto pearl commands a premium over most pearl (sometimes as much as triple the price) due to its luster. In the Chinese Fengshui, it is a lucky jewelry to wear (especially for those born in the summer, ie. May 8 to August 8). Purported to increase the water element in one's life. The best pearl is said to be from the South Sea. South Sea Pearls are much more expensive than Akoya pearls which Mikimoto does produce and carry in its stores.
