Pros: foam is more supportive than stuffing, easy to use, removable/washable cover

Cons: can't think of a single 1

The Bottom Line: more supportive than any other support pillow I have used and is great for any parent, not just those breastfeeding

OK, I did know about it years ago but already owning a Boppy I never considered buying one.  Well pregnant with #6 my Boppy has seen MUCH better days so I was ready to try something else.  I had heard so many good reviews of this that I was ready to try it, but seeing it in action on "19 Kids and Counting" really made it look awesome so I was sold.  Now that baby is 2 weeks old I have been able to try this and it is absolutely as awesome as it sounds.

The Boppy is floppy so it offers about as much support as several pillows would.  This instead is stuffed with foam, not fluff.  No matter how much fluff there is, dense as can be, you still don't get the same amount of support you get with foam.  When you add in the fact this wraps completely around and buckles into place you get even more support.  This is a wonderful product for breastfeeding, it positions baby perfectly, no need to have your legs up, knees bent, or whatever to hold it in place.  But it can also be used for bottlefeeding, support for sore arms from holding baby all day and additional support for young siblings holding a tiny baby.  I don't really have a "must have" list of baby products because in my mind the only must have is an infant carseat.  But if I had a list of items I would certainly want to have, this would be on it.

Basically this is a shallow C shaped pillow along the front that is wide and made of a nice dense foam though extremely lightweight.  It then wraps around 1 side of you and is taller in back for some nice back support and wraps around the other side and has an adjustable buckle to secure it in place.  The front of it features a pocket for holding small things you would like nearby and even has 2 bumps, one on each side for help with positioning babies head.  It's cover is soft and zips on so is removable for washing.  Though the cover appears to be very breathable that can be a good thing for safety but not necesarily for protecting the foam underneath from spit up (and other lovely things) so you may want to lay a burp cloth, blanket, or cloth diaper under baby.

It took some getting used to putting it on since it wraps around as opposed to just sticking it on the front like a Boppy.  But once I got used to doing it 1 handed I was eager to use it each time, whereas my previous breastfeeding pillow I rarely used more than a day because the small amount of support just wasn't worth the hassle.  I actually don't even need to buckle it if I don't have a free hand if I am sitting in a chair that holds it in place, while laying in bed though buckling it is very helpful in keeping it in place.

It is hard to write too much detail on something so simple.  Yet for something so simple it is such a wonderful product.  The brestfriend really will be your best friend those first weeks when you feed so frequently and are prone to backaches.
