Let's just get this out there:  the iPhone has nothing on the E71.

Yea, I said it!!  Don't get me wrong, I love the iPhone.  It's beautifully made, and I can see the uses for it.

But the E71 can run circles on the iPhone like no one's business.  It has everything you can ask for and more:  MMS, 3G, GPS, WiFi, AM/FM, camera, expandable memory slot, the list goes on and on and on.

Let's see... this is what I've been doing on my E71.  I tweet using Twim, go on the Internet with Skyfire (flash enabled for Youtube) or Opera Mini.  I chat on Fringe and use Skype to make VOIP calls overseas.  Yup!  No cost on my mobile minutes on that one.  With JoikuSpot I can turn my cellphone into a wireless access point.  This means I can play games on my iPod touch, go online with my Dell Mini... heck whatever I want.  I'm as mobile as I want.

With the expandable micro-SD slot, I can have up to 16GB of data with me.  It plugs to my computer using a USB cable, so data transfer is a sinch.  And no matter what computer I connect with the USB cable (Mac, Linux, Windows), my E71 always asks me how I want to connect:  Data Transfer, Nokia Suite or "Use phone as modem".

There's one awesome feature that US carriers don't support quite well.... video calls.  The E71 has two cameras:  one in the back for normal picture/videos, and one in the front for video calls that also doubles as a light sensor.  Yes, that's right.. video calls.  My brother and I were in Japan, taking advantage of their awesome networks and found out about video calling.  Sure enough, I called his number and set it to video mode.  Boom.  Video chatting on a cell phone.

All of this in a very very slim package (4.49 x 2.24 x 0.39 in).

The only thing that the E71 doesn't have is a touchscreen.  But seriously, with all the additional benefits this smartphone can offer, who needs a touchscreen?

Dude, I saw this phone last weekend sitting next to the Blackberrys at an AT&T store when we were down in SD. If what you say is true, then this phone is a true SLEEPER! My girlfriend is thinking between that one and the Blackbery 8900.

I haven't tried out ATT's version, the E71x. I'm pretty sure it's going to be hindered... but I can't say that with fact. =\

What service are you using that phone with?

I'm using AT&T, but I bought the Euro/Asian unlocked E71 when I was in the Philippines a few months ago. I'm sure you can still find them on eBay or what not.
