Stark and Nostalgic Look at an American Small Town

This is a neat collection of black-and-white photographs of a quintessential small Midwestern American town. Anyone who has every been to any such town will immediately find many familiar sights in this book. Much of the life in such communities has hardly changed over the past fifty years. The book may be set in 1967, but aside from a few tell-tale features - the old-fashioned cars and out-of-fashion cloths - they could have been taken today.

The book has a nice artistic and vintage feel for it. However, it is much too think and sparse in its offering to justify its price. The photographs could have been larger as well, and there are too many pages that were left blank. I would have also appreciated a few captions, especially for such an obscure subject matter. Aside from the true vintage photography enthusiasts and those with a strong connection to Ottawa itself, this book will have a very limited appeal.

Grew up near there. Can't imagine any serious demand for this book whatsoever, no even to local residents.
