I always told myself that upon marriage(whoever she was), that I would splurge and get myself a nice TV. I was under the impression from various friends that after marriage, it gets infinitely harder to get a purchase like this sign off on by the wife. So once I snagged a woman and got married my wife and I took some of the money we got from wedding gifts and we took the dive. I say we but I really mean me.
I decided I would buy this from Amazon since they have no tax, free shipping and white glove delivery. Seriously who can beat that but I'll save that for my Amazon review.
The TV arrived with 3 hdmi inputs, plenty for what I need. I set it up and even with my cable box that spits out a piddly 1080i, the picture was amazing. I was concerned because starting with this model, Samsung decided to change from a matte screen to a gloss screen. But my concern was washed away when I turned the TV on and saw no glare and an amazing picture.
The stock speakers have their proprietary pseudo surround sound which is okay but I have an entertainment system so I'm using that. It doesn't matter how good of a sound the tv produces, the lowest end entertainment system usually kills it by a mile. However, if you do not want to purchase an entertainment system the speaker system that come equipped with this bad boy does the job just fine.
A word about the Samsung warranty. I actually had a problem with one of the speakers buzzing. I called Samsung and within a few days I had a third party certified repair shop contacting me to schedule an appointment. They came right away and took care of the repair on the spot. Took about 30 minutes in total. Great service on their warranty.
All in all, I highly recommend Samsung televisions. They're high quality products and at this point it's been almost 2 years and I've had zero problems with it. Also when in doubt, always go bigger on a tv. I got a 52 and that was big at the time but I really wish there were bigger tv's then so that I would be writing how great my 60 LCD is. =)
