For external backup, storage, or data transfer, this is perfect...

Via the Amazon Vine review program, I received the Seagate Expansion 1 TB USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive for use and review. In short, this is perfect and I love everything about it!
I don't have a USB 3.0 connector on my current desktop machine, but the Seagate works fine with USB 2.0. My thought was that I'd use this to *finally* get around to having a decent local backup of my hard drive. I loaded up CrashPlan, pointed it at my new K: drive (the USB unit), and let it go. It probably helps that the Seagate is twice as large as my hard drive, and four times the amount of data I need to back up. Still, the backups have been running on schedule for over a week now, and the Seagate is working flawlessly. It's truly been a "plug-and-play" setup with no problems whatsoever.
If I had to come up with any downside, it might be the one year warantee. I would *hope* that something like this would last longer than one year, and it's been noted that many other Seagate drives come with a two year warantee. I'd probably be a bit more concerned had I plunked down $90 for it rather than getting it as a review unit. But given my use case (local backup coupled with a complete cloud-based backup), I wouldn't be completely distraught over a failure. And if I decide to use it to transfer large amounts of data from one machine to another (or to stream video files on my HD TV via USB cable), I definitely would get my money's worth of value out of the unit before a year was out.
If you are in the market for a large external storage unit that isn't a hassle to use, this is it.
