At the time of this review a pack of twenty four tubes was less than nineteen bucks, making this a bargain that beat local prices.
The harissa is both flavorful and had a nice bite that was much stronger than jalapeno, but well short of habanero. It's difficult to be any more accurate in that part of the description because everyone perceives 'hot' differently. What it does have is the flavor I have come to expect from well made harissa. In fact, I would put this as equal to one of my other favorite brands: Harissa Condiment in Tube - Spicy 120 Gr 3 Oz.
However, for value and convenience this one is a bargain. You get two dozen tubes that are about 2.5 ounces each. Since you have to refrigerate most harissa after opening, these tubes are sized for a perfect single serving. That is where the convenience factor comes in.
It's the fact that you are getting close to .85 of a kilo of this delicious paste for less than twenty bucks is where the true value comes in. Compare the price per gram or ounce to any other harissa on this site to she the true value proposition.
A parting tip: try this with to mix it in with za'atar to make a devilishly hot spread for flat breads. Za'atar can be quickly and easily made by mixing equal parts of oregany, thyme, marjoram, toasted sesame seeds and summac. Add a pinch of sea sale and make a paste with olive oil. From there blend in a little of this harissa to your taste and you have a wonderful spread that will bring flat bread to life.
