I do love his work but I have to admit that I miss color.

In different books the colors seem to vary quite a bit. In the first one that I uploaded everything is kind of sepia-toned and yellowish, but if you cycle through the others you see more of the blues, greens, and purples.
I suppose it could vary according to the printing process used. Cheaper editions could vary a great deal from more expensive ones. Which is which would be the next question.

These one and this one are probably the closest to the actual color palette, but you have to be able to combine the two in your head. One is a bit too colorful and the other a bit too dark.

I like the one that had all the blue in it. It seemed as if that would be a natural tone to use in an illustration referencing the Danube.
