This is the first Harry Hole (pronounced "Hoo-leh" in the book) in the series, a series I, and many members of my family, have enjoyed very much. It was quite interesting to go back to the start and see how Harry progressed to where he is (or isn't) now.
A minor female Norwegian celebrity is murdered in Australia, and Harry is sent to look into the investigation. Typically for Harry, he just can't sit on the sidelines and observe other police persons do their job; he has to get himself involved, not surprisingly.
There are fears that a serial killer may be involved, and there are plenty of ideas as to who may have been responsible, some of which came from Harry. When the actual murderer is revealed, it comes as something of a surprise, but not to Harry, who eventually figured it out all by himself.
There is an exciting chase through the Sidney aquarium, and justice, even though rather brutal, appears to have been done. I like this series, and hope that, despite the ending of the latest book, Harry will be back to look into, and solve, crimes.
