Agatha Christie took Tennyson's words from the Lady of Shalott "the mirror crack'd from side to side" as the title of one of her novels. When she faced reality and looked out the window instead of at life's reflection, the poor cursed Lady had to die. Great stuff for Agatha Christie!

One of my favorite Pre-Raphaelite works. This image is almost synonymous with Tennyson's poem.
