I haven't read too much of Stephen King's stuff. It's not that I have anything against him, it's just that I haven't had much of a chance to. For the record, the only actual books of his I've read are "Misery" and "The Stand". Now I can add the novella "UR" to that list, and what an interesting story it is! I'll start out by saying that I am not a big Stephen King fan; I find his shorter works better than the longer ones. Given that, I think Ur was just about the right length and don't see that it would benefit from being stretched or padded out.    King takes a popular SF theme - ordinary person acquires a device that gives access to alternate realities - and reworks it with a (pink!) Kindle in the starring role. Like others, I thought that the early part of the story read too …
