When it's my turn for the grave, I want to look back at my life and say,
"An Unmarked Grave," opens with a scene at a military ward in France in 1918. The ward is filled with soldiers and medical staff taken ill, many dying, from the Spanish Influenza. The medical staff is struggling to keep the men alive but seem to be losing the battle as more and more bodies are carried to await burial.      Battlefield nurse, Bess Crawford, is asked by an orderly to look at one of the bodies. Once again, the mother-son writing team known as Charles Todd give us an excellent mystery from the waning days of the Great War. Bess Crawford, our protagonist, is shown a corpse that does not belong to the flu casualties or fatal wounds, and before she can report what she has been shown, she comes down with influenza and is back in England before she can do anything with her knowledge.      Being the dogged type of person we have met in the previous books about her, Bess just …
