As I'm writing this review, I am currently listening to Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" on my iPod with my new V-Moda earbuds and I can't hear a thing! This is evident as the fiance has apparently been yelling at me for the past five minutes. Obviously, if you are looking for niose cancellation, this is a good thing, but don't go on a bike ride with these in your ears.
When I go out shopping for new headphones, I always look for quality, but not at a ridiculous price. Take for example apples new earbuds. They run for $79 bucks a pop! Today I went into RadioShack to buy a new pair, knowing that my price range was no higher than $50. The first pair I saw were a pair of SONY earbuds. I asked the sales clerk if these were the best ones since they were in fact SONY. Contrary to what I thought, he reccommended the V-moda's, telling me they were in the top 5 best headphones right now. Both pairs cost the same amount, $39.99, so I went with what the good man told me. So far I am very pleased with them, but I am flying out to San Diego on Friday so I plan to update this review post-flight to see if they do in fact cancel out the engine noise.
As far as the Bass goes, it definitely delivers. I can catch every bass note in the Lady GaGa tracks I have listened to so far and as we know Lady GaGa is very bass heavy. This is also mind you without any equalizer on. From a home point of view, the niose cancellation is magnificent. I can't hear myself type (I do have a MAC keyboard though) nor can I ear my knuckles crack. When I pound my fist on the table, no noise. I will update this part of the review when I fly.
If you want a bargain earbud headphone, these are the way to go. For around $40 bucks, you are getting a great pair of high bass and noise canceling earbuds. If you feel like you can splurge on a pair of BOSE, then by all means. 4/5 until I fly.
[UPDATE: After flying back and forth to San Diego this weekend with my new earbuds, my review still stands. They do cancel out a lot of the plane noise. Not enough so I didn't know I was on a plane, but enough to make me be able to hear my movies and music very very well. I was also able to sleep really well with these in my ears with no music on. great headphones, great price, go get em!]

Have you read @splogue's review of these? @jrjohnson just reviewed some Beats by Dr. Dre that seem to be quite expensive but, worth it for the music lover. I appreciate your review because I am looking to upgrade my iPod earphones I got with the Touch and these seem to be a fit!
