This is a great brush for Latin-influenced playing on drum kits. The fixed nylon bristle pattern is perfect for softer staccato sounds that style of music calls for.
The handles are somewhere in the 5A range and provide a decent balance considering their length compared to the length of the bristles. Moreover they have the same feel and balance playing traditional or match grip. Considering that match grip is the most popular - especially among Latin players - this attention to balance for that playing style is a major plus.
It can also be used in more traditional forms of jazz, but I have found that the feel of the larger brush area, as well as the nylon itself, is not optimum for ballads and some straight ahead playing. However, these may possibly work in some pop style music where the traditional legato brush sound is not required, but a lighter staccato sound is.
Bottom line: If you routinely play Afro-Cuban and Brazilian grooves with brushes check these out. For more general purpose playing they may work for you as well. You need to check for yourself.
