I'm not a cougar but I like my Wildcats! Blingy, oversized sunglasses for fun!
Oct 25, 2009
Pros: No distortion, unique, inexpensive, well made, blocks side sun
Cons: May be too big for some, may be "too much" with gold logo, leopard arms
The Bottom Line: XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses ARE kind of wild but that's what makes them fun. They're inexpensive and trendy. Distortion free viewing and side sun block are plusses.
As I mentioned in my review of Chanel 5076h Sunglasses, I am not one to drop hundreds of dollars on sunglasses. I like fashion styles and I have plenty of them. That didn't stop me from buying a pair ofXOXO Wildcat Sunglasses. I always can use another pair of fashion sunglasses!
These sunglasses are oversized, trendy, and quite unique. They're not amazing quality but pretty darn good for $20.00 sunglasses.
The XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses
The sunglasses come with brown and black leopard print frames with non-gradient brown lenses. They feature the usual XOXO logo in gold on the wide plastic arms which I feel is a little much, but ehh, people think I'm sending out signals to hug and kiss them. Wait, that probably isn't good.
Anyway, the lenses are aviator style, my favorite type, and oversized. They feature a metal rim shield frame and they have a small block of gold between the lens and arms. These sunglasses are wide at the temples and don't let any sun sneak in through the sides, a big plus. I don't want to squint when I'm in the sun which leads to expression lines. Plus I want full protection for my eyes. The lenses are not polarized. These glasses do have rubber nose pads which are comfortable and keep the glasses stable and non-slip. My Experience
I bought some XOXO Attitude sunglasses and loved them. I actually planned to give the XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses to my blingy older sister when I ordered them but I liked them too much to part with them when they came. The lenses are quite dark brown and they provide distortion free viewing. My eye doctor told me that wrap glasses cause distortion and said not to buy them. Well, these wrap but not severely and I see no distortion at all.
Some sunglasses make me feel like I have a mild prescription that isn't mine in them. I guess that's the distortion Dr. Mark was talking about. I see none of that with the XOXO's - either these or the Attitudes.
These sunglasses are a bit more wild and I wouldn't wear them to a formal occasion unless I removed them before people saw the leopard print arms, loud gold logo, and oversized lenses, but they're just fine for casual wear and every day wear. I generally don't like brown lenses and defer to black because brown tends to make everything appear muddy. These lenses don't do that. They block sun but they don't mess with colors or anything.
Although I have a small head and face, these oversized glasses look good on me. I asked several sources who are brutally honest and all but one said they looked fine. My youngest brutally honest son said I should be wearing bifocal cat eye glasses not XOXO ones. Sheesh. Luckily he was smiling when he said that.
In all, the XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses are durable and comfortable. I have worn them a number of times on my daily walks with my dog and they serve the purpose and add a little bling to my sweats and hoodie combo. XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses are youthful but I'm 45 and don't feel a bit too old for them. I love the size, the distortion free viewing, and the shape. I also like that the plastic arms block the sun from the sides while the oversized lenses block it from the front. Since I wear sunglasses year round, these will get plenty of use as will my other pairs of sunglasses. And they were only 20 bucks. That's my kind of price for fashion sunglasses!
XOXO Sunglasses, whether they are the Wildcat style or other styles, are available online at several sites that sell eyeglasses and the XOXO brand. Prices vary but I got mine at Overstock.com for $19.99. You can buy these sunglasses at brick and mortar stores that sell juniors brands. (XOXO makes jeans and clothing as well as handbags and more all basically in junior's styles.)
XOXO Wildcat Sunglasses are functional, unique, very comfortable, and distortion free. The style is not for everyone and they do border on "too much" but I took a chance. I typically do NOT like tortoise shell or animal print anything nor do I favor brown lenses which is why these were going to be a gift to my sister. But they grabbed my attention and now I really like them. My sister will end up with a pair as well since, at $20.00, I can afford to buy one for me and one for a gift. 4 stars.
