You Can't Always Judge a Personal Musical Device by It's Cover

I'm going to go out here on a limb. I do not have a 512 MB i-pod shuffle, but I'm going to take a stab at this based on two criteria: First of all, my last musical device before my present Nano was (and is) a 2 GB Silver i-Pod Shuffle, and, secondly, I did look at the product information on Amazon to see the similarities and differences between the two models. The 512 MB shuffle was revolutionary. (Face it the whole musical device extravaganza has been a modern miracle some take for granted.) I still remember my mouth dropping when I listened to the first Sony Walkman way back in 1979.

Okay, I digress and I probably date myself, but you can see that the Silver 2 GB is smaller and is made to clip onto clothing; while the older 512 MB is taller and bigger.

I think comparing experiences between my 2 GB and my Green Nano can make the point: First of all, like my first MP3 player, the Nano displays your songs, and you can toggle from menu to menu to access music by song, group, or album. One of the misconceptions I had is that I thought you could be perfectly content with the 2 GB because you can upload about 300 songs (depending on the memory) and always change the song list, and add or subtract songs as you like. After getting the Nano, I discovered how fresh and invigorating it is to increase your playlist. If 300 to 1,100 songs can make a difference, then how much more will it be to be content with a mere 120 songs (the amount listed for the 520 MB).

Anyway, as with any breakthrough technology, the more time passes, the more quickly the newest development in electronics becomes affordable and accessible to the average consumer. As I see it, since the old days of yesteryear when we were impressed with "Hi-Fi"s that sported turntables and plastic adjustment pieces to put in our old '45's, it is remarkable how many choices we have to get our own personal jukebox which plays so much and so well the music we have learned to love through many generations.
