Jack in the Box is a fast food chain founded in San Diego, California. Most of its locations are in California and the West Coast. Many operate on a 24 hour schedule and offer all menu items at all times (including breakfast).
Jack in the Box serves typical American fast food products but also very Americanized versions of ethnic foods: egg rolls, tacos, teriyaki chicken bowls, and other items which come in rotation.
In 1993, Jack in the Box burgers were found to carry E. Coli, killing four children and affecting numerous others. As part of the settlement, Jack in the Box meat was required to be cooked at 155degrees Celcius, 15 degrees higher than it was currently cooked at.
All Jack in the Box restaurants were closed in Colorado following this event, and the first one was reopened in Golden, Colorado in 2007 after being non existant in the state for 11 years.
