Along with Elvis Presley and Jackie Wilson, Bobby Darin was one of the few singers to successfully apply R&B vocal styles to pop material. He was among only a handful of entertainers who could bridge the gap between '50s rock fans and their Sinatra-loving parents. Darin grew up poor in the Bronx, eager for fame at a young age because he knew early on that he'd been born with a potentially fatal heart condition. He earned acclaim as a singer, songwriter, producer, concert performer, and dramatic actor, as well as an outspoken advocate of civil rights and social change.  Darin died at age 37, when his heart finally gave out. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990, shortly before the release of his son Dodd's book Dream Lovers and Rhino's much-lauded four-CD boxed set As Long As I'm Singing: The Bobby Darin Collection.   Rhino's The Hit Singles Collection is the first truly comprehensive single-CD hits collection from the swingin' Hall Of Famer. It features 20 classic tracks released between 1958 and 1966, including "Splish Splash," "Dream Lover," and the Grammy®-winning "Mack The Knife."
