You run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking

Roger Waters' dark existential lyrics about consumerism, religion, life, and death are complemented by David Gilmour's haunting vocals, Richard Wright's harmonic rhythms, and Nick Mason's syncopating beat.  While at times devolving into cynicism and melancholy, the lyrics encourage listeners to meander down a path of self-introspection.

Great album!!! Wow, this brings me back. I was in high school when the album came out. I was just talking about its importance to a friend the other day. I constantly played it on 8 track tape in my 67 Mercury Cougar. Boy I wish I still had that ride!!!
