The Best Live Show I've Been To

Back in the fall of 1998, me and a group of about seven friends met up at Garfields, a local restaurant, and ate our dinners, every one of us pumped up for the show we would catch later on that evening. After we finished eating, we loaded up two cars and took off for Omaha. The Civic Center was where we were headed.

The trip down was full of loud music, strange smells, and the random mooning drive-by. I was in the middle of the back seat of a small sedan, the only chick of five passengers. This didn't phase me though...I was too excited to see the show. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Orgy, Ice Cube, and Ramstein were all scheduled to be playing that evening, and I had never seen any of them live before. The hour and a half it takes to get to Omaha seemed to take forever, even though we were all having a good time.

Once we got there, we had to go through security. All I had to do was empty my pockets. My male companions, on the other hand, had to get thoroughly patted down before they were allowed through. We had floor seating, so we headed into the auditorium and got ready for the show. Limp Bizkit started the show, and before they came out, the speakers turned on and they started playing their intro on their album. The bass coming from those woofers was ridiculous. I loved every second of it!

Orgy followed Limp Bizkit, and though I had only ever heard two of their songs before the show, I was impressed with their Euro-rock sound. I ended up buying their album. After they were finished, Ice Cube came onto the stage. This was a bit of a switch, since all the other acts on the tour were rock. Even as a rapper, he fit right in and added something unique to the show.

Rammstein....wow. They put on one hell of a live show. I was standing way in the back of the auditorium after coming back from getting a drink, and I could feel the heat of the flame-throwers from over 500 ft away! It was amazing.

Korn was last to play, of course, and as they started, I was in the mosh pit. I felt the crowd pulsing and pushing harder against me and I knew I wouldn't be able to hold them back, so I jumped over the side fence and up into the chairs and watched from there. It was still an awesome show, even from the sidelines.
