K.T. Oslin always brings back memories of my childhood with songs like "80s ladies.", "Cornell Crawford", and "Come Next Monday". These were constantly played in the car on long trips with my Navy family. We would go to visit museums, beaches, and anywhere in between while listening to 3 musicians: K.T. Oslin, Carly Simon, and Anne Murray. These ladies still always take me back.
The Good-- This isn't your typical twangy country music, but it also doesn't border on a crossover. You still feel like you're listening to our grandparents country music without hearing about the loss of a dog while driving a trunk and drinking a beer after you've lost your woman. However, it does have a sweet mellow and melodic sound that can only bring peace to your overly hectic days. You'll catch yourself singing along to lyrics like..."Don't kiss me like we're married, kiss me like we're lovers."
The Bad--Its really hard to take something so nostalgic and come up with a negative thing to say about it, but in all honesty we must look at things in the most critical light in order to review it. K.T. Oslin doesn't have the vocal range of Mariah Carey or Reba McEntire, and a lot of her songs sound the same despite the sense of nostalgia they bring to me.
That being said I still highly recommend this artist especially on rainy/gloomy days.
