This is one of my favorite raps to come out in the last few years. It's obviously contraversial hooks says, "Bush Knocked down the Towers!" but its not a mindless cliche about conspiracy theories.
The beat has a low bass heavy upbeat charge to it. I found myself getting angry thinking about some of the content. The artist's intent definitley comes through. He expresses a lot of the frustration and anger about the "war on terror". Albeit, it's very sensational, it does its purpose. And in the end it did spur my attention and force me to form an opinion after critically thinking about what I percieve to be going on. Get mad! But don't kill anyone after listening to this. Do take it to the streets and talk about it. We have to critically look at how America starts wars and is not totally transparent about cause and effect.
My favorite lines are "They say the rebels in Iraq still fight for Saddam that's bullsit; I'll show you why it's totally wrong. 'Cause if another country invaded the hood tonight, there'd be warfare through harlem and washington heights. I wouldn't be fighting for Bush's white american dream. I'd be fighting for my people's survival and self-esteem."
I do think that's Eminem's voice that comes up at the end in a freestyle. Mos Def helps out in the hook and with the intro.
This rap is pretty much why my old-ass still loves rap music. It puts a very explosive commentary to a moving beat. I also enjoyed the creative flash video and subtitles that is attached above.
I don't agree with the sensationalism of it. But it does express my anger at the way my country has waged wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
