Quite possibly the greatest comic-to-animated series ever produced, I loved getting home after school and watching this (I was in my teens, BTW) every day. With all of the hoopla about "Dark Knight Rises" going on, I treated myself to Volume One of this series on DVD. Now I'm sharing it with my kids and they love it too!

Batman: The Animated Series is probably the best case in my life where I simply liked a cartoon during its original broadcast run and through becoming an adult, I now absolutely love it and even consider it among the absolute best in the animation world. This series ranks as my #1 favorite American animated TV series of all time. If there's anything close to flawless it has to be this. The animation delivers some nice battles, the backgrounds are dark and atmospheric, and on top of that the Caped Crusader has a very charismatic rogue's gallery. I can watch this any time.

This is the gritty world of Batman I know and love. When I read Batman comics, I hear Kevin Conroy's voice. When I read the Joker, I hear Mark Hamill - the best actor to breathe life into Joker, hands down. From the iconic "Dark Deco" setting to the rich original score, to the myriad of beautifully broken souls that make up the Bat-verse, Batman: The Animated Series has been my favorite cartoon for two decades.
