Big Love is an hourlong drama on HBO, premiering in 2006, about a Salt Lake City, UT family that practices polygamy. They are practicing fundamentalist Mormons under a fictional sect. The series revolves around Bill Henrickson, his three wives (Barbara Henrickson, Nicolette Grant, and Margene Heffman), and their various children.

Maybe the 3rd best show on TV ever. Great writing, makes an obscure American culture mainstream and likeable. Margine is the Best.

Why would a hopeless romantic like me be madly in love with a show about a man who splits his time among three wives? Because it is so good at being so bad. Big Love is Seventh Heaven meets The Sopranos with some General Hospital mixed in. . It's all about people defending their religion yet every single commandment is broken on almost a weekly basis. Let's dispense with the business at hand up front – if you're looking a for quality drama that makes an hour seem like 15 minutes and has you hooked from the first episode, watch "Big Love" on HBO. Here's why: I first saw previews and teasers, I think, sometime shortly after my beloved "Six Feet Under" left HBO's airwaves, and "Deadwood" was in perpetual limbo.
