"Kings" Series Premiere Review

Sunday (my birthday) was the day that the apparently not so highly anticipated Kings premiered. Though the premiere was only viewed by 6 million people (for broadcast television and a brand spankin new show, not so impressive) I think it might possibly be the best new show on television along with Castle. This is a very good thing since after this Friday I will be without Battlestar Galactica, sobb :.(. Kings had amazing acting, especially on the parts of Ian McShane as King Silas Benjamin and newcomer Chris Egan as David Sheppard. It was filmed beautifully and the fact that is has done such an amazing job in modernizing the David and Goliath in just the premiere says a lot to me...

Watching this show was just a lot of fun. It had the perfect mixture of drama, comedy, scifi and romance which is just about everything I need in a tv show. I never watched Deadwood, but from what my Dad has told me he was amazing in that and he won me over from the first line he spoke. I think it has got to be a difficult task to try and create a modern version of King Benjamin and he pulled it off flawlessly. He comes off as neither good nor evil, a man who definitely has his own agenda. Then there is the newcomer, Chris Egan. For this being his first show ever, he has a long career ahead of him. Portraying war-torn David in the David and Goliath story, he gains the Kings trust and "admiration" when he rescues his son from over enemy lines in an impossible situation (he destroys a giant tank named "Goliath" while looking right down the nozzle of its cannon). Egans acting is fresh and it's good to see a newcomer on TV again.

If you haven't watched Kings yet, I strongly encourage you to. You will not be disappointed. For the premiere episode, Kings gets a 5/5.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but i found myself watching this premiere and was impressed with how well it set up the entire future story, but was still very entertaining while doing so. I'm not a loyal viewer yet (missed it last night i think) but i did make my Tivo list... we'll see if i watch it before it gets auto deleted.
