Summer Heights High is the follow up project to We Can Be Heroes. Created by Chris Lilley, Summer Heights High is an eight part series filmed in the mockumentary format. The series revolves around three characters, Ja'mie King (who was also in We Can Be Heroes) who is a spoiled private school girl, Mr G the ego driven drama teacher and Jonah Takalua the trouble maker from Tonga.
Lilley plays all of these characters, just like he wrote and starred in We Can be Heroes. The show originially aired in Australia but was picked up by HBO last summer in the states.
It's Lilleys commitment to the characters that brings a whole new level to Summer Heights High, the first time I saw it, I didn't know that he played all three of the main characters, and even once I knew, I forgot because his acting is that remarkable.
Summer Heights High ends with the school musical, and songs from the musical can be found online.
The show is hilarious and something that American television should aspire to. It's hard to write about because I don't want to give too much away!
