One of the only shows from the great 80's I can still sit through and have a blast. The stories are creative, and the series combines action and comedy very well. Still among my favorites ever.

Indeed

It was too good.

aye. I agree 100 % I have to hunt down the entire collection...

Of course you agree, you got great taste. I saw it on ammie for like 100 bucks. It's pretty expensive but I can see it going out of print and price gouged later.

Did you get the big boxed set version that comes in a cardboard replica of the firehouse?
September 19, 2011
No, I don't even own the set. My sister has it and I showed up to her house while she was already watching it, and I caught many of the episodes. I may ask her can I borrow it, but I have so many video games that I want to get through that I know I don't have too much time for it.

Yeah, it's a great box set, but way too expensive for me to afford any time in the near future.

we almost know for sure that it'll get a re-release...I'll wait.

If Shout! Factory picks it up like they did Transformers and GI Joe. It sure will.

Annoying how some people give everyone a single thumb, isn't it? Good to see competition and insecurities don't get in the way of friendship. Uggh.

Anyway, I was a big fan of this show growing up, especially the first few seasons. However, at one point they changed the voice cast around and the show was re-titled to become "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters" and that bugged me. I still have to get this series on DVD eventually. I re-watched a couple of the early episodes recently and was impressed by the fact that one of the writers was comic book author and screen writer J. Michael Straczynski.

Oh I don't mind that. It just means that I'm going to rate those certain people honestly from now on. And honestly, MOST of those people's reviews don't deserve 3's across the board. In some cases not even 2's. In other cases not even to be rated at all. Anyway, I hear you on the voice change and when it was changed to Slimer. I stopped watching it at that point. But the other episodes were just too entertaining. I loved the episodes when the Ghostbusters saw their deaths and the "Flipside", when they had to battle dead versions of themselves.

Here's a bit of fun (and by fun I mean geeky) trivia for you. Of course, Bill Murray played Dr. Peter Venkman in the original Ghostbuster films. In The Real Ghostbusters animated series, Venkman was portrayed by famous voice actor Lorenzo Music, who also played Garfield in the cartoon series Garfield & Friends. The strange coincidence is that after Lorenzo Music died in 2001, Bill Murray ended up doing the voice of Garfield in the Garfield movies. I guess you could say they came full circle... or that Murray's career has taken a dive since Charlie's Angels. One or the other.

That is strange indeed. I never really thought about that one.

I never saw this but loved the original movies.

I liked the first movie but the second was weak from what I remember. I may revisit them. This series is among the better ones from the 80's for sure.
