Casts a Spell Over You

Lilith, the Fairy Queen of Dreams, has kidnapped Faye's husband and cast a sleep spell over the Kingdom that Faye lives in, causing her child to be overcome by the spell. Faye must solve a series of puzzles in order to find her way into Lilith's domain and rescue Fidget, her husband, before Lilith can claim him as her own husband.

"Dream Chronicles" is a combination hidden object/puzzle solving computer game. There are 18 chapters in the game and 32 levels. In addition to solving the puzzles to move to the next chapter, you also have to find gems that are hidden in most of the puzzles. The game is untimed which makes it a nice leisurely game to play and while you cannot collect hints, if you wait long enough the screen will light up near a puzzle piece (however it may light up in a spot where you've already found the puzzle piece you need). Each chapter has a story – make sure you read each story as they will help you solve the puzzles in their chapter. There are puzzles within puzzles and sometimes you have to solve part of a puzzle before more puzzle pieces appear. The types of puzzles range from jigsaw-like puzzles to music puzzles to math puzzles to logic puzzles.

"Dream Chronicles" is a quick, fun computer game. It may be a bit too quick for some – I estimate 2 ½ to 3 hours total playing time – but it is very enjoyable. I like the fact that it is untimed – it makes for stress free playing. Finding the gems in each chapter adds a bit more of a challenge although the gems don't seem to do anything but add points to your score – a score that is basically meaningless. The puzzles range from easy to difficult to at times almost impossible to figure out without much trial and error. There is something for everyone in this game (I liked the hidden object puzzles, hated the music ones). The graphics are gorgeous and the lighting adds much to the game. Since some objects are moved around you can play the game more than once, but it is not that much fun to play again as the puzzles remain the same. My only real complaint about "Dream Chronicles" is that the ending feels like a cheat – after investing time in a game I expect a real ending – not the one offered in this game.

"Dream Chronicles" is a fun, challenging computer game.
