Pros: Great easy to play game suitable for beginners and young kids
Cons: None that I can think of
The Bottom Line: This is a great improvement to the N64 game and is a great game to play for those who like Mario whether experienced or inexperienced with sports games.
This is one of the few easy to play sports games for Gamecube (at least that I know of), because the controls are not very complicated. You mostly just need to aim and then push A at the right time to make the ball go the distance you need it to go. You use different clubs and putters depending on the distance you need. Just because the controls are easy does not mean the game is entirely easy. Parts of it are, but as you progress in the game there are more challenging courses that you unlock and the perfect timing of the pressing of A is something that takes practices. The thing I find hardest is timing when putting. It can be very hard to get it to go just a very short distance and sometimes frustrating, but with some practice it becomes easier to make the really close putts.
The game offers many courses and characters to unlock. It also has a good amount of characters that you do not have to unlock, which is something that Mario Golf for Nintendo 64 was lacking in. Overall the game is better than the Nintendo 64 version, especially in regards to the graphics being more superior in this Gamecube version.
