Enter Ultimate Ninja 2, where things got real. The general gameplay speed has been improved, so throwing a kunai would not feel like it's been forever for it to hit the target. The character roster has also been improved and UN2 includes several game-specific characters that continues in UN3, which in UN2's case includes ANBU Kakashi, Naruto in Guy's Suit and Danzou.
However, the one element that increases the playtime of this game is the inclusion of a proper story mode, where the player experiences the ins and outs of Konoha village as CC2 went to great lengths to include an RPG syled exploration in a fighting game. The story in this mode follows the anime word by word, even making the player defeat their opponents similar to how it's done in the anime. Sadly, this interesting 'condition' system didn't make it past UN2 as many 'fans' consider it too hard to kill Yakushi Kabuto with a rasengan ougi while he has regenerating health.
Also introduced in UN2 is the customisable jutsu mechanic. It's a lot of fun trying out different jutsus on different people, and it's one of the things that makes the game really fun to play, either against the AI or human opponents.
There is only one downside to this game, where Ougi sequences are either button mash mania or analog stick twirling madness which can take off your analog stick cap. Proceed with caution
