This d-pad is really terrible! I can't press a diagonal direction for the life of me! How are you guys doing anything with it? Or are you just not bothering with the d-pad, and always using the analog stick? I find it very uncomfortable for 2D games like Shiren though...

I've only had opportunity to play SSFIV on the 3DS so far, but I will agree with you entirely - the D-pad is worse than the DS lite's D-pad and I didn't even think it was possible for Nintendo to make that mistake worse. I'm reluctantly forced to advise you to stick with the analog stick, even in 2D games, because that thing is just god-awful. =/
