So much Better than the first. As a Sequel Should be

Redsteel 2 is the sequel to the 2006 game Redsteel. It was published by Ubisoft and developed by Ubisoft Paris. It was released on March 23rd 2010.

Like its predecessor Redsteel 2 is an Action Adventure First Person shooter. You play as a Character named the Swordsman who after 5 years of banishment has returned to his old home (the town of Caldera) only to find it invaded and taken over by the ruthless gang called the Jackals. Now it’s up to you to clean up the town while trying to figure out what happened to your clan, The Kusagari.

As a sequel should be Redsteel 2 is vastly improved over the first game, now when you get into a fight you have the option of using either your gun or your sword, the environments are destructible (to a point) the new graphics and art style make the game very unique and the inclusion of Wii Motion Plus makes the swordplay immensely more accurate.

New features include upgradeable swords and guns, (they are upgraded by using cash earned from completing missions, beating bosses or found in the environment), a challenge mode (completing a level in a certain time for extra cash) the ability to learn and upgrade cool new secret moves called “Kusagari Powers” and the ability to carry up to four guns on you at all times along with your sword

Graphics wise Redsteel 2 looks downright amazing in terms or art style Redsteel 2 is right up there with greats like Okami, Madworld, and Kirbys Epic Yarn. Gameplay Wise the game is a mix of FPS Action and fast-paced swordplay. The ability to switch between weapons makes the game that much more fun to play. The frame rate is also top notch matching quality Shattered Memories. The controls while easier to grasp than the first game are still kinda clunky and even with the inclusion of Motion Plus players will still find themselves waggling the Wiimote.

Redsteel 2 isn’t without its problems though the AI still does some dumb stuff (standing there while you slash em up) money is way too easy to get (just go out into the environment and destroy everything you see) the missions seemed a little too easy and unlike the first game there is no multiplayer.

Despite this these issues are easily overlooked by the games pros, the graphics and Art style are amazing, the gameplay is fun fast paced and engaging, the games length is pretty good (9-10 hours depending on how you play) and the game is not as linear as before (there is some exploration to it)

Like No More Heroes 2, Redsteel 2 is yet another example of what a great sequel should be. Because of this Redsteel 2 gets 9.0 out of 10.
