Strange Journey is the fourth game in the Shin Megami Tensei main series. Right after Nocturne. Strange Journey plays like a classic MegaTen title being a first-person RPG. The battle are all turn-based and random. Luckily you have a gauge that will warn you when a battle is about to start so you shouldn't worry too much. Making a return is the Demon negotiations that players will need to do if they want to survive. For those not aware players are pretty much stuck with just the main character and in order to build up your party you'll need to team-up with the very demons you fight. As you battle demons you're given an option to talk with them. If you flatter the demon and follow its request (i.e. asking for money, health, an item, etc.) the demon will join your party. It's important to negotiate with as many demons as you can if you want to survive. In order to make it in battles you'll need to exploit your enemies weaknesses. By doing that demons of the same attribute will launch an attack as well and do more damage which is why it's important to make your party of demons the proper attribute for the areas' demons you'll be fighting. The fusion function also returns. Fussing demons is the only way to make some of the strongest demons in the game. And you'll need them. Really the only way to make it in the game is by getting as many strong demons as you can to join your party. It's not to crazy to think of Strange Journey as a more mature Pokémon. The story in Strange Journey is quite good and will keep anyone at the edge of their seat. The game takes place in our modern world were everything is fine and normal but then a sudden massive atomic collapse occurs in the South Pole and causes a space abnormality known as the "Schwarzwelt" to appear in Antarctica . It's basically a big black ball/dome that keeps expanding and whatever it touches is broken down at the atomic level and is destroyed. What's worse is that it's continuously expanding and threatens to eat-up the entire planet. So the UN sends a group of researchers and the most skilled military units with the most advance technology from all over the world to investigate it. Unfortunately for them the mission goes hey-wire and they are trapped in the Schwarzwelt which happens to act as a portal to another dimension. Inside are hunger demons just itching to kill everyone. It becomes a dash to get out alive and questions of your duty or your life is asked. The story is insane and never let's up. It's by far one of my favorite game stories in recent year. The hopeless feeling of being stuck and always in danger really makes the game a blast.
